First thing to do in Barcelona: Climbing at Montserrat!

Yesterday I went to Montserrat at Gorros sector to do a multi-pitch climb with Agnes. Pure luxury!

It is my first climb since I went back from NY, after a long period away from rock, so the objective was an easy route to ensure a good starting. As Montserrat is less than one hour from Barcelona, no need to wake up early!

Route Sargantanes 584ft 5.6 in Gorra Marinera peak. The wall is full of bolted routes (it’s conglomerate) and we missed one of the pitches taking another route with a similar grade. I guess it was Babau route.

Y me volví supercontento. Reencuentro con la roca!!! para celebrarlo. Un buen helado 😛

Started as always with some fear, doubts about how I will feel leading, etc. But it went good. We made 4 out of 7 pitches just to the point where there is an exit by walking to the Sant Jaume chapel.

The weather forecast stated rain storms by the end of the morning and we already were feeling the winds that come before that and seeing the cumulonimbus clouds getting bigger and bigger. It was enough for me as I wanted to ensure a good feeling of the activity avoiding any problems. Agnes wanted to continue as we probably had time to finish and get to the summit. But we stopped here. Thanks Agnes!!! Same happened to me last weekend when I had to go back leaving the Puigmal summit for another day, although I was already seeing the summit.

Climbing went well, I had good feelings climbing again so I walk back down to Montserrat monastery really happy. Reunion with rock again!! to celebrate, a big ice cream!! 😛

El premi!!!!!!

Esto es el buen sabor de boca!!! This is a good taste in my mouth!!
